Ivy may be a familiar face - this fast-growing plant is a fixture of English gardens. Her nickname, 'English Ivy', reflects her popularity around these parts, where she's often grown to cover the outer walls of houses and provide extra insulation. She's also useful for treating the sickly - parts of her are currently used in cough medicines.
This lovely ornamental climber will bloom little greenish-yellow flowers that are visited by over 70 species of nectar-feeding insects from late summer to late autumn. In the winter, she'll produce orange-yellow berries that act as a lovely snack for many bird species - just resist the temptation to eat them yourself, because they're extremely poisonous to humans! She looks especially pretty in the spring, when her fresh growth adds a layer of brilliant green to her foliage.

HOW TO CARE FOR IVY (ENGLISH IVY)
Ivy is happy in both the brightest light and the deepest shade, and in most types of soil. She's kind of great like that. Our multi-purpose compost is the perfect home for super-chill Ivy.
If left untrimmed, she'll grow roughly 20 cm per year. To avoid this, give her a good snip with a pair of sanitised secateurs or scissors.
Ivy would prefer it if her soil stays evenly moist, so give her something to drink if it hasn't rained in a bit and her compost feels a bit dry.
